I am with you, Kristi. I felt the same way, but I've found that, having been so burned by journalism, that discovering new forms of writing has felt nourishing in some way. Your note reminds me that I need to try meditation...
For years, I would try it and think, "I'm doing it wrong," and then stop. Now, I understand getting distracted is part of the process, and you just gently come back to yourself without judgment. It's helpful for getting grounded.
How did you two know I needed this?? I feel the same about journaling... it feels like it would be another chore, but maybe that resistance is lame, and it would help my healing journey. Even if I don't physically write, I really need to commit to using some of your prompts, Marcy, to explore all these thoughts, feelings, and beliefs swirling around.
This is by far my favorite post of the week! I feel so fucking blessed to get to call you two my support system. 🌭🫶
Journaling has always been such a help to me and it’s so much more beneficial (for me at least) when I have some great prompts! So glad you found Marcy!
I love this for you, and it sounds like it's just what you need right now.
I have to confess that I really struggle with journaling just for the sake of journaling. I feel like I write so much already that adding one more piece of writing to the plate is draining not filling. There have been times in life where that wasn't the case, and I suspect I'll rediscover it again at a later point. For now, I find other pursuits—like meditation, kitty cuddle time, mountain bike rides and hikes are where it's at for me. To each our own, right?
I totally get this, I've gone through periods of time where I didn't journal at all. Even now I don't journal much in a traditional way, since I have a toddler and a baby...it's a lot of jotting down notes to self in the Notes app on my phone in the middle of the night while breastfeeding. But what brought me back to journaling in a real way a few years ago was working with Tarot and Oracle cards. Now I view journaling as a way to tap into my higher self, as a way to actually hear and listen to my intuition. I can access these parts of myself when I write/journal. And meditation or yoga is also a great way to do that! It all just depends what resonates with you, and that can definitely change throughout life.

The cards are so beautiful, too. I wasn’t familiar with Oracle cards! Very cool
Love love love this! Great article! I can't wait to see you and your fancy journal in our Equine Guided Journaling session ;)
Thank you, Coach! I’m excited for it

Hmmm. I am intrigued about combining it with tarot though and love the idea of tapping into intuition, so I'll check it out.
A great suggestion during a very turbulent time!
